TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) – Despite the recommendations of President Seyed Mohammad Khatami and the Majlis Speaker Mahdi Karrubi, the Majlis did not approve Reza Faraji Dana for the portfolio of Science, Research and Technology, said an MP Hamidreza Haj-Babaei Tuesday.

Some of the Majlis deputies affiliated to the Solidarity Party, Assembly of the Combatant Clergies and the Servants of the Construction Party are not sincere in their remarks; they say something but they mean something else.

However, regarding the voting issue, those representing the Islamic Participation Party were the most straightforward of all, added Haji-Babaei referring to the Majlis session on Monday during which Haji won the Majlis vote of confidence and remained as the Education Minister.

Out of the 67 deputies that voted against Haji, some 30 MPs were from the minority faction of the Majlis, while the rest were from the 2nd Khordad Faction, member to the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission further said.

“I am neither in the left camp nor in the right wing. I act according to the general policies of the Islamic System and the teachings of the Late Imam,” the deputy representing Hamadan noted, adding that the Majlis deputies vote in favor of or against the issues according to their own political leanings.

The Majlis on Monday, voted in favor of the impeached Minister of Education Morteza Haji, and rejected Reza Faraji Dana on Tuesday. Faraji Dana was proposed to the Majlis for the portfolio of Science, Research and Technology by the president.
